Interior Comparison
The 2023 RAV4 and the 2023 CR-V are spacious enough to comfortably accommodate five adults. Although the 2023 RAV4 gives up a tiny bit of passenger space, it more than makes up for it with more cargo space. Its 37 cubic foot trunk beats the 2023 CR-V, and you can fold the rear seats nearly flat for even more space and practicality.
The 2023 RAV4 and the 2023 CR-V include Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto⢠connectivity on all variants via their touch-screen infotainment systems. Furthermore, the 2023 RAV4 offers larger screens, with the base variant measuring 8 inches and a 10.5-inch upgrade available. The 2023 CR-V comes with a 7-inch screen and a 9-inch upgrade.
Both compact SUVs include dual-zone climate control, leather seats, and other convenience features as part of their respective options lists. Focusing on some exciting offerings in the 2023 RAV4's list, you can spec an excellent JBL speaker system if you're a music lover, choose ambient lighting for extra atmosphere, and even have a power sunroof if you like to stargaze. However, it would be best to do this when parked, not when driving.

Performance Comparison
The base engine on the 2023 RAV4 is a capable 2.5-liter 4-cylinder unit that develops 204 horsepower. It sends power to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, but you can choose an all-wheel-drive system if you need extra traction. Then, there's the obligatory RAV4 Hybrid, as per Toyota's hybridization push. It offers the same 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, but it runs the Atkinson cycle for better fuel efficiency. Since the Atkinson cycle also generates less power, two electric motors have been installed. Thus, the total output is 219 horsepower, sent to all four wheels via a CVT gearbox. The 2023 RAV4 hybrid can also run for up to 42 miles on electric power, as per its EPA ratings.
What if you want even more power? You can have it, and it's still a hybrid. The 2023 RAV4 prime is a plug-in hybrid with a beefier electric motor added to the regular RAV4 Hybrid's powertrain. The result is a total output of 302 horsepower. With its standard all-wheel-drive system, the 2023 RAV4 Prime can rocket to 60 from rest in under six seconds and still save the planet.
Honda's offerings for the 2023 CR-V are decidedly less exciting. The base engine is a 1.5-liter turbo four with 190 horsepower. It may be acceptable on smaller vehicles such as the Civic, but it fails to propel the 2023 CR-V with the same verve as the base 2023 RAV4. Ditto the hybrid powertrain on the CR-V, which sees a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and electric motor combo generating 204 horsepower. There's nothing to match the 2023 RAV4 Prime, either. All 2023 CR-V variants come with a CVT gearbox and front-wheel-drive as standard, but you can spec an all-wheel-drive system if required.
Safety Features Comparison
The 2023 RAV4 and the 2023 CR-V are well-equipped on the safety front. They offer adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, eight airbags, child safety locks, and brake assist as standard. The 2023 RAV4's automatic emergency braking also has pedestrian detection built-in.
