Rooted in South Texas. Driven by Purpose
Born and raised in South Texas, Mike Shaw graduated from Weslaco High School before earning his degree in Business Management from Texas A&M University. His journey also included serving his country as an officer in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. That experience strengthened the discipline, resilience, and leadership qualities that would later become defining characteristics of his business philosophy. Following his military service, Mr. Shaw entered the automotive industry with a passion for automobiles and a vision for delivering an exceptional customer experience.
In the mid-1990s, he acquired a Chevrolet, Buick, and Saab dealership in Denver, Colorado. Through hard work, determination, and a commitment to excellence, he expanded that investment into a network of 10 dealerships across the country.
The Mike Shaw Automotive Legacy
After years of success in the automotive industry, Mr. Shaw made the decision to return his focus to the community closest to his heart: South Texas. He sold most of his dealerships to concentrate on Mike Shaw Toyota and Mike Shaw Kia in Corpus Christi, strengthening his commitment to the region he proudly calls home. Today, the Mike Shaw Automotive Group continues to reflect the values that shaped its beginnings, with a team of automotive professionals and two generations of the Shaw family contributing to its legacy. Mr. Shaw's leadership and accomplishments have earned recognition throughout his career, including being named TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year in 2012.
Yet his greatest legacy extends beyond industry recognition. It lives in the relationships built, the people served, and the standards of excellence his dealerships strive to uphold every day.

For Mike Shaw, being part of a community means taking an active role in making it stronger. Alongside his wife, Nancy, the Shaw family, and dealership teams, Mr. Shaw has supported numerous philanthropic initiatives, contributing time, resources, and meaningful support to organizations and individuals throughout the Coastal Bend. His dedication to giving back has also been recognized through his induction into the Latino Leadership Institute Hall of Fame, honoring his contributions to the South Texas Latino community.
