2018 Toyota Tundra versus 2018 Ford F-150: Which is the Better Overall Value?
The full-size pickup truck market is one of the most competitive segments in the automotive industry. You've no doubt heard a lot of talk from Chevrolet and Ford about how their trucks are superior to the competition. Toyota, on the other hand, has quietly been building a full size truck that appeals to those looking for rugged performance backed by legendary Toyota quality. The Tundra may be a new "kid on the block," but when it's compared head to head with the F-150 some interesting facts come to light. This comparison can be used as a valuable tool when you are looking at purchasing or leasing a full size truck in the Corpus Christi, Robstown, and Rockport, TX areas. In order to provide a fair assessment, Mike Shaw Toyota compared two base models: the 2018 Tundra 4x2 Double Cab SR 4.6L V8 and the 2018 F-150 Supercab 4x2 XL 145-in WB 2.7L V6 10A.
MORE TRUCK FOR LESS BUCKS
2018 Tundra Costs Less ($32,415) than the 2018 F-150 ($35,160)
2018 Toyota Tundra versus 2018 Ford F-150: Interior Comparison
The 2018 Tundra and F-150 stack up equally well against each other when it comes to interior room. They are both within an inch or two of each other when it comes to headroom, legroom and shoulder room. The same can't be said, however, for interior equipment.
The 2018 Tundra comes with features like power windows, power locks, power mirrors, and Bluetooth* as standard equipment. The F-150 lists these features as "options" which means you have to pay additional for them, or move up to a higher trim level on the truck.
Score one for the Tundra due to the advantage in standard interior equipment over the F-150.

2018 Toyota Tundra versus 2018 Ford F-150: Exterior Comparison
Neither truck offers a significant advantage in exterior dimensions over the other. The Tundra and F-150 measure up within an inch or two of each other in width while the F-150 boasts a slight edge in overall length. As far as exterior styling is concerned, it essentially comes down to personal preferences.
Ford redesigned the F-150 for the 2018 model year, so it's got a fresh new style. The Tundra, on the other hand, last received a complete revamp in 2007. Despite being a bit "long in the tooth," the 2018 Tundra's style still remains attractive.

2018 Toyota Tundra versus 2018 Ford F-150: Technology Comparison
Both trucks stack up well against each other when it comes to infotainment technology. Each comes with a nice sized display screen offering a host of fun and functional options. Ford's SYNC 3 and Toyota's Entune systems are both relatively intuitive to use in each truck.
The 2018 Tundra, however, has a huge advantage over the F-150 in the safety technology arena. With the Tundra you get Toyota Safety Sense P across all trims levels. That includes driver's assistance technology features like Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Sway Warning System, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. The F-150 offers no such standard safety tech package. Big win for the Tundra in this category.

2018 Toyota Tundra versus 2018 Ford F-150: Performance Comparison
The 2018 Toyota Tundra is powered by a 4.6L V8 engine that delivers 310 horsepower. Ford's F-150 counters with a 2.7L V6 that is capable of generating 325 horsepower. That's an advantage for the F-150, albeit a small one. It is interesting to note, however, that the 2018 Tundra offers a tremendous advantage over F-150 in towing capacity (6,800 lbs. versus 5,000 lbs.). Further clouding the picture is F-150's advantage over the Tundra in fuel efficiency. In light of all this, we're calling the performance category comparison a tie.
2018 Toyota Tundra versus 2018 Ford F-150: Who Wins?
This was a close contest. Each of the trucks stack up well against each other in many categories. The 2018 Tundra, however, holds a distinct advantage in the areas of cost and technology. Due to these two factors, we're recommending the 2018 Tundra over the 2018 F-150. As the saying goes, when all else is equal - it "all comes down to price."
